Un diamante con manos, piernas y cara que adentro contiene un USB lleno de música, fotos y videos. Ese es el nuevo EP de Datarock, un bicho raro que lleva el nombre de una de las novelas más importantes del siglo pasado, Catcher In The Rye. Los noruegos están cumpliendo diez años como banda y, para no pasar desapercibidos, decidieron despacharse con «el EP más extravagante de la historia» (o por lo menos asà lo definen ellos). Un dÃa antes de su show en el ciclo Embassy, el cantante Fredrik Saroea nos contó de dónde surgieron estas locas ideas y cuáles son los siguientes pasos de esta banda que vio nacer el rock rave y ahora se divierte con él.
-¿Cómo se les ocurrió la idea de presentar el EP de una forma tan peculiar?
-Resulta que tengo una gran colección de juguetes de diseñador. Estaba pensando en una manera divertida de celebrar nuestro décimo aniversario y se me vino a la cabeza utilizar a mi compañÃa de juguetes de diseño favorita, SUPER7. Si lo pensás el EP es Datarock, porque el USB que tiene adentro es la «data» y el diamante es una roca, osea «rock».
-En su página de Internet hay muchos personajes más, ¿quiénes son?
-Son juguetes diseñados por Brian Flynn, el pionero de SUPER7. La pirámide que pueden ver por ahà es el arte original de Catcher In The Rye. El diamante es el juguete oficial de Datarock.
-Asumo que encontraron inspiración en El Cazador Oculto (Catcher In The Rye) de J.D Salinger a la hora de titular el EP y su primer single ¿Por qué ese libro?
-Titularlo asà fue una forma de volver a nuestras raÃces. Siento que el libro de Salinger está escrito de una forma increÃble y todos, en parte, se deben sentir identificados con Holden Caulfield (protagonista de la historia). Yo mismo, cuando era más joven, me veÃa como él y el primer hit de Datarock, Fa Fa Fa, está de alguna manera cantado por Holden.
-¿Qué tienen planeado para el futuro?
– Bueno, en ‘el EP más extravagente de la historia’ – el pendrive de 4 GB- están el corta duración Catcher in the Rye, otro EP de 6 temas titulado California y un nuevo álbum de 15 tracks que se llama Music For Synchrinization. Como verán, el dispositivo trae mucho material nuevo de la banda. En iTunes pueden escuchar algo de todo esto y chequear la locura.
La dirección en la que nos estamos moviendo ahora apunta a la escritura de nuestra ópera prima, ‘Datarock – El Musical’.
-La última vez que tocaron en Buenos Aires terminaron abrazándose con la gente del público, ¿qué pronostican para el show de mañana en Embassy?
-Pongámoslo de esta manera: la audiencia argentina fue increÃble con nosotros en 2007, asà que nos vamos a ir muy decepcionados si la fiesta no explota.

Again, were talking personal lives here, but, he probably needs to change the company he keeps and sit back and look at the successes he has that many havent. Maybe it will sink in. People can learn from mistakes and change for the better. Maybe this is that chance for him and its severe enough that it may finally hit home. Antwon is a great part of OTH and I dont want to see him go. Lets just hope for the best for OTH and for Antwon himself. If you like/love people you accept them as they are and do what you can to help them and encourage betterment. The guy is down and out right now Im sure. He doesnt need to be verbally abused up here. I know how people feed off other peoples faults or misfortunes. Thats a fault in itself in my book.
